Carla Christian is a native Arkansan who is proud to have called Germantown her hometown for the last 29 years. Mrs. Christian received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Louisiana Tech University and her Master’s in Education Degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama. She began her education career as a special education teacher and adult educator before coming to HMS as a school counselor in 2009.
As a tireless advocate for all students, Mrs. Christian’s goal is for all students to reach their full potential without limitations. She helped to implement the comprehensive, recognized school counseling program at HMS that is based on the National Model of the American School Counseling Association and the Tennessee State Counseling Model. Mrs. Christian is also a proud sponsor of the Junior Honors Leadership Academy at HMS.
Mrs. Christian was recognized as the West Tennessee Middle School Counselor of the Year (2017), the Tennessee Middle School Counselor of the Year (2017), and the Tennessee School Counselor of the Year (2019). She was awarded the Lifetime PTA Achievement Award in 2011, and has been a RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) reviewer in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Mrs. Christian is a devoted wife to her husband Bill and mother to her three wonderful daughters. She is extremely proud of being Nanna to five precious grandchildren. When she isn’t being an awesome school counselor, she loves to garden, cheer on the Arkansas razorbacks and spend time with her family.
